It's #tbt! Today's Throwback Thursday happened a year ago when I tried the
Skipper Canteen restaurant in Disney's Magic Kingdom for the first time. I didn't occur to me a year ago but recently I found out this restaurant is based off of the Jungle Cruise ride. Looking back at the jungle theming and flavors from
Asia, South America, and Africa, it was pretty obvious.
Bread service was a large round loaf of a wheat based bread with a hint of sweetness served with what I think was a spiced honey dip. I think it would have been better with honey AND butter.
As an appetizer, we started with the House-made Arepas. I was just looking at the menu and it looks like they no longer serve this dish. That's too bad. It was pretty tasty.

I had the
Nile Nellie's Noodle Bowl with Chicken. It really reminded me of Vietnamese Chicken Pho. If that's what Disney was aiming for, it was a good attempt but my dad's is still better. Ha!

My hubs ordered the
Char Siu Pork. If I remember correctly, I think he really liked it. That's the problem with Throwback Thursdays. You don't always remember all the little details.

But what I do remember is that Skipper Canteen has Fanta Melon Frosty from Thailand on their soda fountain!!! This is one of our favorite sodas from Coke-Cola. We guzzle this stuff every time we stop at Club Cool in Epcot.
